I can make things out of cardboard. Corrugated e-flute. In many ways, it’s similar to working with wood, a skill passed down from my father. This unusual “talent" has found its way into several agency projects.
Jones Seel Huyett Holiday Card
750 snowman kits were hand-assembled for an agency holiday mailing, complete with all traditional components. A cardboard top hat could also be constructed from the mailing box itself. The piece was awarded Best of Show (Print) at the local ADDY competition.
Jones Seel Huyett New Business Promo
A 20-inch cardboard lighthouse served as an agency recruitment tool, complete with functioning window lights, a flashing tower beacon, and ocean sound effects. The base swiveled 360 degrees and housed ocean-inspired relaxation CDs.
Sprint North Supply Agency Pitch
A gadget-laden, “Mission Possible” corrugated briefcase was created to house the agency’s print portfolio in a memorable way. It was constructed with interactive touches, including: hidden message panels, a false-bottom compartment, a magnetic closure, and a sound chip.
Stormont-Vail HealthCare Employee Campaign
Following a divisive unionization vote, we were tasked with creating a dimensional campaign to increase employee morale. Displayed within the hospital, four different playsets were created that portrayed employees as “Health Care Heroes,” and depicted various hospital facilities: Cath Lab, Cat Scan, NICU and Surgical Suite. The project received a Best of Show (Judge's Special Citation for Creative Excellence) at the Ad Astra statewide ADDY competition.
Here’s a sampling of additional dimensional items created using not only cardboard, but my anaglyph 3D design, 3-D stereograph photography, and paper folding skills. These pieces were used for tradeshows, ribbon cuttings, agency promotions, ad club communications, and more.
